My girlfriend has some mild depression please help?

So my girlfriend has mild depression and shes petrified of doctors. She will not go see one for any reason and cant even remember the last time she had a normal checkup. She has a person who comes to her house once a week to talk to her about her problems and whatnot but it doesn't really help the depression. My girlfriend talked to the girl about depression medication and she says that she sent a referral in and that there is a long procedure for anything to happen before she can even be considered medication. From what I hear there isn't really any wait to get on them as long as your doctor believes you need them then you can get them. obviously there will be a consult. Is there anyone out there with any advice on the situation? I mean I want her to be happy. She is happy with me and all I do but just generally shes always been an unhappy person. I'm the one that brought up medication in the first place but like I said before it was shot down because of a "HUGE waiting list" I guess im asking for some advice on this and if there really is any huge waiting list and what the steps are to getting on the medication. Please dont be like dude just get rid of her. or just dump her... this is all very serious
