How many species of animals are there in south east Asian rainforests?

I'm doing a research project on the rainforests of south east Asia. What really bugs me is that every single website I go onto says that it is "one of the most biodiverse regions in the whole world". What they don't say is how many species there are, and surprise surprise, I need that elusive bit of information.
