Would cartoon shows like the Simpsons be better if the Characters aged as time goes on?

Bart has been in elementary school for 20 years, the South Park kids Should be in High School. Wouldn't these shows be more interesting if the character aged as we age? Tell Matticus he WANTS to KNOW.
