Partial birth abortion, does the majority of the public know what that means?

I`ve just been reading up on Intact Dilation and Extraction (Partial Birth Abortion) on wikipaedia (Not for the faint hearted!!) and I`m not entirely sure that the majority of the public do know. I personally wasn`t aware of the gory details. Actually I thought the Hypocratic Oath was to do no harm. I`m actually quite shocked that this is allowed to take place.
